3-14 Adding Options

Serial Printer

To install a serial printer, you need a cable with a female
9-pin connector.

NOTE: Before you connect a printer be sure you
have installed the appropriate printer driver through
the Windows Control Panel.

To connect a serial printer to your Versa V, do the
following.

Check that both the Versa and the printer power is off.

Open the left-rear port cover.

Connect the printer cable connector to the printer port on
the system. (The serial port is the third from the left.)

Attach the other end of the cable to the appropriate port
on the printer.

Secure the connections with the screws provided.

Connect the power cable to the printer.

Turn on power to the system and the printer.

NOTE: You can also use the serial port to connect
an external modem.

EXTERNAL KEYBOARD

You can add a full-size external keyboard to your Versa V
using the Plug and Play feature. To connect a PS/2-style
keyboard to the system, do the following.
