NEC 1765 Software for AppleTalk
The NEC 1765 software for AppleTalk allows you to
display and modify configuration information for the
NEC Silentwriter 1765. The next section describes
specific tasks and the steps to complete them. For
specific information about windows and menu options
in NEC 1765 software see page 5-56.
Using NEC 1765 Software for AppleTalk
This section describes the steps to perform specific
network and printer configuration tasks with NEC 1765
software for AppleTalk. Detailed information about
NEC 1765 software windows and menus can be found
on page 5-56.
Displaying Available Printers
You can display a list of available printers on the
network.
1.
Open the NEC 1765 software by double-clicking on
the NEC 1765 Print Admin icon in the NEC 1700
Utilities folder.
2. Select the current AppleTalk Zone from the pull-
down menu. The factory default zone is “*”. The *
zone includes all other zones not listed by NEC 1765
software.
3. The Printer Administration window displays a list
of all printers in the selected AppleTalk Zone that
are configured to work with NEC 1765 software.
4. Click the Status Refresh button to update the
printer list manually.
note:
NEC 1765 software for AppleTalk displays
AppleTalk zones and printers on the local network
segment only. To see zones and printers on another side
of a router or bridge run NEC 1765 software for
AppleTalk on a computer in that segment of the
network.
