2. Cache Mode when refresh is going on
Cache Mode changes to “Write Through” during refresh when the setting is “normal Write
Back mode”. If the setting is “constant Write Back mode”, Cache Mode keeps “Write Back”.
On the Universal RAID Utility, normal Write Back mode is display as Auto Switch, and
constant Write Back mode is displayed as Write Back.
3. Periodic refresh
Since the initial refresh, the refresh is not automatically run. So, you should schedule the
periodic refresh for the stable operation using the following tool. The standard interval is
the once in 3 months.

for Windows

for Linux/VMware ESX 3.5

for VMware ESX 4.0

Do not use this tool for a purpose except the refresh of the battery.
When “Cache Mode(Current)” does not switch to “Write Back” even if it passes over 9
hours from the refresh beginning, there is possibility of the battery failure.
The manual refresh can be executed by this tool, too.
4. Manual refresh
Since the initial refresh, the refresh is not automatically run. However, there is the case that
the battery requires the refresh. So, execute the manual refresh using the tool of "3.
Periodic refresh" in this chapter.
5. Notes on refresh
When the system is rebooted although the initial refresh is running.
If the discharging is not finished yet, the RAID Controller restarts the refresh.
If the discharging is already finished, the RAID Controller resumes the refresh.
When the system is rebooted although the manual refresh is running.
If the discharging is not finished yet, the RAID Controller stops the refresh.
If the discharging is already finished, the RAID Controller resumes the refresh.
When the refresh is running, the temperature of the battery rises than usual.
Sometimes the refresh takes long time because it stops when the temperature is
high.
