By setting the "EVF Auto Switch" function of the EM-1II camera to 

Off

 allows switching between 

monitor display and EVF display by pressing the LV button. 

To disable this function, press and hold the LV 
button for a few seconds, the "EVF Auto Switch" 
menu will pop-up. Select "Off" and press OK.
