NI-CAN User Manual

About This Manual

This manual describes the features of the NI-CAN software. This manual 
assumes that you are already familiar with the Windows system you are 
using.

How To Use the Manual Set

Use the getting started manual to install and configure your CAN hardware 
and the NI-CAN software.

Use this 

NI-CAN User Manual

 to learn the basics of CAN and how to 

develop an application program. The user manual also contains detailed 
examples.

Use the 

NI-CAN Programmer Reference Manual 

for specific information 

about each NI-CAN function and object, such as format, parameters, and 
possible errors.

Conventions

The following conventions appear in this manual:

File»Page Setup»Options

 directs you to 

pull down the

 menu, select the 

Page Setup

 item, and select 

Options

 

from the last dialog box.

This icon denotes a note, which alerts you to important information.

bold

Bold text denotes items that you must select or click on in the software, 
such as menu items and dialog box options. Bold text also denotes 
parameter names.

italic

Italic text denotes variables, emphasis, a cross reference, or an introduction 
to a key concept. This font also denotes text that is a placeholder for a word 
or value that you must supply.

monospace

Text in this font denotes text or characters that you should enter from the 
keyboard, sections of code, programming examples, and syntax examples. 
This font is also used for the proper names of disk drives, paths, directories,
