INSTALLATION
Our DS4 Model Controller is designed to operate with a specially designed
DOOR PHONE (see page 3). A suitably qualified telephone technician will fit
your DS4 Controller direct onto an ANALOGUE extension of a PBX or direct
to an FXS port or ATA (ANALOGUE Telephone Adaptor) of an IP system.
1) Connect the PBX EXTENSION port of your DS4 direct to an
ANALOGUE Extension socket (or FXS-ATA), using the supplied
telephone cable.
2) Connect the supplied 12V power supply to your DS4, and switch the
POWER ON. Ensure that the green LED on your DS4 is illuminated.
3) Connect the SUPPLIED DOOR PHONE to the DOOR PHONE port of your
DS4.
4) Run a solid core telephone cable (preferably CAT3 or CAT5) between the
DS4 and the Door Phone. Maximum working distance is 300 yards (300
meters).
o
DP1 Door Phone requires only 2 wires of the CAT3 or CAT5 cable.
o
DP2-DP5 Door Phones require 4 wires of the CAT3 or CAT5 cable.
For your convenience, an interface unit with screw terminals is supplied
and should be connected to the DS4 unit using the short RJ to RJ cable
that is provided with it. Use of the interface unit is not required. You may
prefer to connect the CAT5 cable direct to the 8 pin RJ45 port of DS4. Pin
connections are described on page 11.
5) The PBX or other Multi-Line telephone system should now be
programmed to TRANSFER the DOOR PHONE call to the desired
destination (‘HOT DIAL’) once an OFF HOOK condition is detected on the
extension (FXS or ATA) to which the DS4 Controller is connected.
6) This should be done by a suitably qualified telephone technician that is
familiar with programming your system to ‘HOT DIAL’. The DS4 Controller
will automatically terminate the connection at the end of the call. See page
17 for further detail.
