Cable Waterproof Shroud
B.1 Installing the Waterproof Shroud Cable Assembly
The Cable with Waterproof Shroud to Nanometrics Digitizer (Nanometrics part number
17769-nM, where n is the length of the cable in metres) is an IP-68 rated cable assembly for
Nanometrics Posthole sensors. The waterproof shroud provides a semi-permanent
connection between the cable and the sensor and allows it to be submerged to depths
of up to 50 m for an indefinite period of time.
The sensor is supplied with 4 M3 x 8 attachment screws and a pouch of silicone grease that
will be used to assemble the cable with waterproof shroud to the sensor. It is
recommended that you perform the following procedure in an indoor environment,
leaving the cable mated to the sensor in field service; however, the cable can be
changed in the field if necessary.
1. Lightly grease the O-Ring on the cable assembly with the silicone grease. When
sufficiently greased, the O-Ring will be shiny.
2. Clean the surface around the connector on the Trillium Compact Posthole, ensuring
that it is free of water, dust, dirt, or debris.

Perform the following steps in reverse to disconnect the cable with the waterproof shroud
from the sensor. Note that the connector is locked in place with a twist lock. Before
disconnecting the cable, undo the gland, slide the shroud back, and unlock the twist lock.
