CDS Player Operation
There are six buttons on the right hand side of the cds player front panel. Press to activate. Several of
these buttons operate differently depending on whether the player is in load condition (after a disc
has been loaded, but before the
play
button has been pressed). The player returns automatically to
load condition either at the end of the disc, or at the end of the last track of a programme, or when
the stop button is pressed or when the lid is opened and closed.
display
In load condition makes the player display alternate between showing:
(a) the total number of tracks, (b) total time and (c) display off.
In play condition makes the player display alternate between showing
(a) the number (and index number) of the track being played, (b) the time it has been played and
(c) display off.
previous
In load condition searches the table of contents backwards, either one track at a time, or sequentially if
you hold the button depressed. Then press PLAY to play the track chosen. In play condition mutes while
searching the table of contents backwards, and then plays the track chosen without further command.
next
The next function operates in the same way as the previous function, but moving forwards through
the disc instead of backwards.
pause
Mutes the sound, leaving the laser arm paused in its current position (and the disc still rotating).
Pressing a second time turns the sound back on. In between, you may choose to use the previous or
next functions to select a different track. To play the chosen track you will then need to undo the
pause with a second press of the button.
stop
Stops the disc rotating, returns the laser to its inner position, and resets the player to load condition.
play
Causes the player to enter play condition. The loaded disc will start to play, beginning with track one,
unless another track has been selected. If you press play while a track is already playing, the track will
be re-started. When an HDCD encoded compact disc is loaded the CDS automatically recognises it and
decodes the relevant information. The display will read HDCD for a few seconds after the play button
is pressed (from load condition).
These functions are duplicated on the remote control which also provides many additional facilities.
For further information please refer to the instructions on page 18.
On the far right of the display are three indicators.
track
When lit, the display shows the total number of tracks(in load mode) or track number selected (in play
mode).
time
When lit, the display shows total time (in load condition) or elapsed time of track being played (in play
condition). To the right of these indicators is an alphanumeric display for track and index numbers, OR
time in minutes and seconds, OR various system messages (eg: play, err etc). The full stop on the right
of the window comes on when the player receives a signal from the remote control.
repeat
Shows (when lit) that repeat has been selected from the remote control.
program
Shows (when lit) that a program has been stored. For further information please refer to the remote
instructions on page 18.
