**NOTE: To remote-start the vehicle, press the lock button on your factory remote 3 times in a row**
STEP 4: Optional Wiring Connections
1.
Hood Pin & Valet Switch
– Your remote start kit includes a spring loaded hood pin and valet switch. While they
are not essential to the operation of the remote start, they are important safety devices that prevent the starter
from accidentally engaging when not desired. Most newer vehicles come with a factory hood switch so this would
not be needed.
•
The
hood pin
prevents the vehicle from remote starting while the hood is open.
•
The
valet switch
allows you to manually disengage the remote starter.
If you would like to connect these options, do the following:
•
Mount the
hood pin switch
in a location in the engine compartment where the closed hood will keep the
plunger in the switch depressed (requir
es drilling a 3/8” hole)
•
Connect the
dark blue wire
(pin A8) from the EVO-ALL 20 pin connector to the male spade on the
hood
pin switch
•
Mount the
valet switch
in the vehicle (
Requires a small screw hole. Usually put in the driver’s kick panel
(that’s the area forward of the door), the driver’s side of the center console, or the underside of the dash.)
•
Connect one wire from the
valet switch
to the
dark blue wire
(pin A8) from the EVO-ALL 20 pin
connector (the same wire that’s connected to the hood pin)
•
Connect the second wire from the
valet switch
to
ground
