Mounting your Pickup
Before mounting your pick-up on your instrument, test it by plugging it in and speaking into the miniature
microphone element on the side of the housing. Your voice should be loud and clear. If not, check the battery.
Sometimes in transit, the battery becomes loose and all you need to do is reinstall it.
After you have tested your pickup, now it is time to place it properly on your instrument. Experiment with
different locations for the sound you desire. Most people prefer to have the pickup element about ½” from
the sound hole or wherever the sound is produced. Once you have determined where to place your pickup,
the next step is to mount it.
You have received hardware for 3 different ways to mount your pickup to your instrument. Your pickup has
the “Grip” suction cup already installed. Suction cups are excellent for instruments with a smooth and/or
glossy finish, if you want to mount the pickup temporarily or to move to other instruments. If the cup loses its
holding power, the cup might be dirty. Clean the inside of the suction cup with rubbing alcohol.
Also, inside the box you will find two-sided tape and two mounting screws for a permanent mounting option
and for instruments that do not accept the “Grip.” If the two-sided tape is chosen for your method of
mounting, all you need to do is unscrew the suction cup. Then attach one side of the tape to the back of your
pickup, the other side to your instrument, and you’re done!
If you chose an even more permanent method and decide to use the mounting screws, unscrew the suction
cup, remove the two screws that hold the lid on and carefully pull the lid open so the inside is completely
visible. Hold your pick-up at the desired location on your instrument and mark the instrument surface with a
pencil/pen through the mounting holes.
Remove the pickup temporarily from your instrument and pre-drill a 1/8” diameter hole about 1/4” deep into
your instrument. Now, place the pickup back onto your instrument, lining up your mounting holes. Using the
two wood screws provided, attach the pickup to your instrument. Secure the lid back in place and you’re
ready to go!
Note: MYERSCO is not responsible for any damage to your instrument and it is highly recommended that
you experiment first for the best placement for sound and esthetics.
