TEST RESULTS AND OBSERVATIONS

scent keys.  The drawer’s spring-loaded ramp conve-
niently locks down so that, although corner separators
are present, they do not hinder access when adding pa-
per.

Ease of adjusting paper drawer: Fair. The user-adjustable

500-sheet drawer has an adjustable rear guide to accom-
modate paper in sizes ranging from 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" to
8-1/2" x 14". Because the machine does not automati-
cally detect the correct paper size when the drawer is
closed, users must change the size in the MFX-1200
control panel menu.

Operator error: If the user fails to set the paper size after

changing the paper size in the drawer, the unit sounds
an alarm and generates an error message when the first
fax, copy or print job occurs and the job is output on the
wrong size paper.

Throughput Capabilities/Materials

Standard paper supply: One user-adjustable 500-sheet

drawer for sheets ranging in size from 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" to
81/2" x 14", and a 50-sheet bypass that accommodates
sheets ranging from 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" to 8-1/2" x 14". Ac-
ceptable paper weights for both paper sources, 20 to 24
lbs.

Maximum number of available on-line paper sources with

options (including bypass): Three.

Maximum on-line paper capacity with options (including

bypass): 1,050 sheets.

Maximum image size: 8-1/4" x 13-15/32". Makes copies/

prints from 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" to 8-1/2" x 14".

Void area: There is a void area of 1/8" along the leading

edge, 3/32" along the trail edge, 13/64" along the top
edge and 1/16" along the bottom edge of copies.

Paper output: All pages are output face up. Copies, faxes

and prints exit in correct page sequence.

Ability to process self-adhesive address labels: Avery

#5351 labels performed satisfactorily in the test.

Ability to process transparencies: 3M-PP2500 clear trans-

parencies performed satisfactorily in the test.

Performance of Copier Functions

Copy Quality

Density of solid black copied image (based on eight read-

ings corresponding to eight different locations on the
original):

Density of original: Range, 1.69 to 1.74 (on a scale of

0 to 2.5, with 2.5 being as dark as would be possible
under most circumstances).

Density of copy: Range, 1.35 to 1.43 (on a scale of 0 to

2.5, with 2.5 being as dark as would be possible un-
der most circumstances).

Density range for multifunctional products in this class

tested to date: 0.96 to 1.63.
