6.2 Troubleshooting
Engine does not turn when starter is actuated
Component Cause Measure
Battery Low or faulty Charge or replace (see manufacturer's
documentation).
Cable connections faulty Check if cable connections are properly
secured (see manufacturer's documen-
tation).
Starter (electric) Engine cabling or starter faulty Check if cable connections are properly
secured, contact Service.
Starter (compressed
air) Starting-air pressure not available Check firm seating of connections,
check starting-air pressure and main
valve of compressed-air system. Contact
Service.
Engine wiring Faulty. Check (→ Page 218).
LOP Assemblies or connectors possibly loose Perform visual inspection (→ Page 226).
ECU Plug-in connections possibly loose Check plug-in connections (→ Page 222).
Engine Running gear blocked (engine cannot be
barred manually) Contact Service.
Start interlock limit
switch Limit switch not installed Check limit switch (→ Page 221).
Limit switch defective
Wiring faulty
Check wiring (→ Page 218).
Engine turns but does not fire
Component Cause Measure
Starter Poor rotation: Battery low or faulty Charge or replace battery (see manufac-
turer's documentation).
Engine wiring Faulty. Check (→ Page 218).
Fuel system Air in fuel system Vent fuel system (→ Page 170).
ECU Faulty. Contact Service.
Engine fires unevenly
