Setting up Servo Loop Parameters
EDC User's Manual
Chapter:
3. Setup
Section:
Setting up Servo Loop Parameters
Servo Loop parameters include the proportional gain (Kp) and excess
error (EX ERROR) of the Controller. It is important that you be able to set
these parameters correctly for your application. Read the above section
of the
EDC User's Manual
carefully before proceeding.
Power up the Controller. Press the Mode key until the top line of the
display reads SETUP. Then press the
t
or
s
key until the second line
of the display reads [X: LOOP] or [Y: LOOP]. Then press the F1 (EDIT)
key to begin editing servo loop parameters for the X or Y axis. Follow the
editing instructions in the
EDC User's Manual
to set the servo loop
parameters as follows:
•
Set proportional gain (Kp) to 1.00
•
Set excess error (EX ERROR) to an acceptable value (this value
depends on the scale value set earlier).
•
Set all other servo loop parameters to 0.
Remove power from the Controller before proceeding.
Encoder Test
EDC User's Manual
Chapter:
7. Monitoring
Perform this test only if you can power up and move the encoder without
applying power to the servo drive or actuator. Take the following steps:
•
Power up the EDC Controller.
•
Press the MODE key until the top line of the display reads
MONITOR. Then press the
t
or
s
key until the top line of the
display reads MONITOR [POSN].
•
Move the encoder by hand. Encoder movement should cause a
change in the position displayed on the Controller. (This test
may cause an Excess Error fault. Ignore this fault at this time.)
If the Controller does not display the position, or if encoder movement is
not accurately reflected on the display, repeat the procedure for setting
Calibration Parameters.
Remove power from the Controller before proceeding.
