The locomotive’s lights are controlled by a constant voltage circuit in the engine. They
are easy to remove and replace when they burn out. See the diagrams and directions
below for instructions on accessing and replacing the light bulbs in this locomotive.
Headlight:
The locomotive’s headlight is controlled by a constant voltage circuit in the engine. The
headlight is easy to remove and replace when it burns out. The bulb has a quick
disconnect plug that attaches the bulb harness to a light circuit. Replacement bulbs are
available directly from the M.T.H. Parts Department.
1. To replace the headlight in this model you will need to follow the boiler disassembly
instructions on pg. 12. Once the boiler is removed you can access the wires for the
headligh by removing the connector boxes (see figure 7).
2. Gently pull the plugs connected to the lights outof the connector box.
3. To remove the headlight from the boiler front, unscrew the mounting plate at the back
of the boiler front door and gently pull the wires until the bulb comes free of the housing.
Push the new bulb into place, replace the mounting plate and reconnect the plug to the
connector box.
