What can be split?
Size of split wood (log).
Length: max. 1300 mm
Diameter: min. 120 – max. 400 mm
The log diameter is only recommended as
− Thin wood is diffi cult to split if it contains several knots
or the wood grain is too coarse.
− Thick wood (more than 400 mm) can be split if it is free
of knots and has a smooth and straight grain. Do not
split wet (fresh) wood. Dry wood, stored for some time,
can be split more easily and you will avoid problems
with the splitting wedge frequently getting stuck in
the wood. Splitting "old" over-dried hard wood using
the splitting cross wedge is not recommended as this
wood's grain is very diffi cult to split and the splitting
cross wedge‘s mounting will be overloaded.
Operating
Two-hand operation
The machine must never be operated by two per-
sons.
Never block the operating handles (clamping jaws).
1. Switch the machine on using the green button.
Wait several second to let the motor reach opera-
ting speed and the hydraulics pressurise.
For wood splitters equipped with a three-phase
motor (400 V 3~) make sure the motor is running in
the correct direction, otherwise, the oil pump will
be damaged.
At temperatures below -5 °C, let the machine idle
for 15 minutes until the oil reaches its operating
temperature.
2. Put a log on the splitter table.
Split the log only in the direction of the wood grain.
3. Hold the log with the clamping jaws.
4. Simultaneously push both operating handles down.
The splitting wedge will travel down and split the log.
5. Release both operating handles and the splitting
wedge will return to its starting position.
If only one operating handle is released, the
splitting wedge will stay in its current position.
Special instructions for splitting
• Preparation :
Prepare the logs for splitting and ensure they have the
above-specifi ed dimensions and are cut fl at (at right an-
gles). Put the log into the wood splitter so that no danger
will arise.
• Splitting Wedge Travel Adjustment
When splitting short logs, you can shorten the splitting
wedge travel and thus increase work effi ciency.
1. Place the log on the splitter table and pushing both
operating handles down lower the splitting wedge un-
til it is approximately 2 cm above the log.
2. Release one of the operating handles to stop the spli-
tter wedge in this position.
3. Switch off the machine and pull the plug out of the
socket.
4. Release the other operating handle.
5. Shorten the splitting wedge travel by securing the loc-
king screw on the rod at the required height.
