Sending an Emergency Alarm
This feature allows you to send a data transmission, which
identifies the radio sending the emergency, to the dispatcher.
Note:
Emergency button press timer by default is set to 1
second. This timer is programmable from 0 – 6
seconds by a qualified technician.
Procedure:

Press the preprogrammed
Emergency
button.

The display shows
Emergency
on the current zone and
channel. You hear a short medium-pitched tone and the
LED blinks red momentarily.
OR
You hear the radio sounds a short low-pitched tone to
indicate the selected channel does not support emergency
and rejects to launch emergency mode.

When you receive the dispatcher’s acknowledgment, the
display shows
Ack received
. You hear four tones, the
alarm ends, and the radio exits the Emergency Alarm mode.
OR
If no acknowledgement is received, the display shows
No acknowledge
. The alarm ends when the timer expires
and the radio exits the Emergency Alarm mode.
Sending an Emergency Call (Trunking Only)
This feature gives your radio priority access to a talkgroup.
Procedure:

Press the preprogrammed
Emergency
button.

The display shows
Emergency
on the current zone and
channel. You hear a short, medium-pitched tone and the
LED blinks red momentarily.
OR
You hear the radio sounds a short low-pitched tone to
indicate the selected channel does not support emergency
and rejects to launch emergency mode.

Hold the radio vertically 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5.0 cm) from
your mouth.

Press and hold the
PTT
button. Speak clearly into the
microphone.

Release the
PTT
button to end the transmission and wait for
a response from the dispatcher.

To exit Emergency Call, press and hold the preprogrammed
Emergency
button for about a second.
