Safety warning
Even though this machine has been designed to be
safe in use, it is essential to follow the Safe Working
instructions carefully to avoid accidents to persons or
property. Particular hazards are the use of incorrect
electrical connections or touching exposed electrical
components.
Safe Working
Read and keep to the following advice in order to
protect yourself and others from possible injury.
• Pass the safety instructions on to all persons who
work with the machine.
• Keep these safety instructions in a safe place.
• Make yourself familiar with the equipment before using it,
by reading and understanding the operating instructions.
• Do not use the machine for unsuitable purposes
• Ensure that you have secure footing and maintain your bal-
ance at all times.
• Pay attention at all times. Take care with what you are
doing, and approach the work sensibly. Do not use the
machine:
– when you are tired.
– under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications
that may impair your powers of judgement.
• When working with the machine, always wear…
– protective goggles or face mask
– safety gloves
– hearing protection
– slip-proof shoes
– long trousers
• Wear suitable work clothing:
– do not wear any loose-fitting clothing since these may
be caught or trapped by moving parts.
• Children and people who have not read the operating man-
ual must not operate the machine.
• Keep children and pets away from the machine.
• Never operate the machine if other persons are in the
immediate vicinity.
• The user is responsible for accidents to other people or
their property.
• Do not overload the machine! This appliance operates bet-
ter and safer in the given performance range.
• Only operate the machine when it is fully assembled and do
not alter anything on the machine that could impair safety.
• This appliance is not intended for use by young children or
infirm persons unless they can use the appliance safely.
Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not
play with the appliance.
• Faulty or damaged parts must be replaced immediately.
• Do not spray machine with water (this is hazardous due to
live components).
• Do not leave the machine standing in the rain or use when
raining.
• Store the unused machine in a dry locked place away from
the reach of children.
• Switch the machine off and remove the mains plug from the
socket when…
– removing entanglements.
– carrying out servicing, repairs, or fault finding.
– checking the leads to see whether these are caught up
or damaged.

• Check the machine for possible damage if unusual noises
and vibrations are noticed.
– Before continuing to use the machine, the
protective devices must be inspected to
ensure that they work perfectly and with
their intended function.
– Check whether the parts are damaged. All
parts must be correctly installed and fulfil
all conditions to ensure perfect operation.
– Damaged parts must be properly repaired
or exchanged by a recognised, specialist workshop.
– Damaged or illegible safety warning labels should be
replaced immediately.
Electrical safety
• To avoid the risk of electric shock from the power cable, we
strongly advise that the cable be plugged into a socket
which has RCD protection.
• Long power cables will cause a drop in voltage, impairing
the performance of the machine.
• Cables up to 25m long can have 1.5mm

conductors, while
cables longer than 25m must have 2.5mm
2
conductors.
• Ensure that the plug pins on the cable and the machine are
not bent, and that the weight of the cable will not pull the
socket apart.
• Do not separate the plug and socket by pulling on the
cables.
• Check the condition of the power cable by regularly for
insulation damage, replacing if necessary.
Important!
If the moulded 3 pin plug attached to this unit is damaged and
needs replacing, it is important that it is correctly destroyed
and replaced by an approved BS 1363/13A fused plug and
that the following wiring instructions are followed.
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with
the following code:
Blue neutral
Brown live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this unit may
not correspond to the coloured markings identifying the termi-
nals in your plug, proceed as follows:
• The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the
terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.
• The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the
terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
