4.3 Clear Paper Jams
The operator can clear most paper jams from the MFC. If a jam has damaged the
MFC, or a fault has caused a jam to occur, you will need to remove the paper from the
system.
4.3.1 Clear Jams in the Creaser Rollers
If paper has jammed around the creaser rollers you will have to clear it manually.
Caution: Be careful not to damage sensors or electrical wires when clearing jams in
the creaser module. Do not use a knife or sharp tool to cut paper that is jammed in the
machine as this will damage the MFC.
Before you start:
•
Set the main input switch to OFF (0)
•
Remove the rear guard (See Section 4.2.7).
•
Remove the input guide (See Section 4.2.8).

Use your hands to rotate the creaser rollers until you can access the end of the
sheet.
(2)
Hold the end of the sheet and pull it towards you, as you continue to turn the
rollers.
(3)
Repeat steps 4 thru 5 until all the sheets are removed.
4.3.2 Clear Jams in the Creaser Blade
If the creaser blade-set is closed on a sheet of paper and will not open automatically,
you must open it manually.
Before you start:
•
Set the main input switch to OFF (0).
•
Remove the rear guard (See Section 4.2.7)
•
Remove the motor cover (See Section 4.2.9)
•
Remove the input guide (See Section 4.2.8).

Use you hands to turn the creaser drive shaft and open the creaser blade-set.
(2)
Remove the paper from the creaser (see Section 4.3.1).
4.3.3 Clear Jams in the Paper Conveyor
If paper has jammed in the conveyor during a feed, you must clear it manually.
Before you start:
•
Remove the rear guard (see Section 4.2.7).
(1)
Lift the outer conveyor shaft and clear the paper from behind it.
(2)
Pull the paper towards you.
