4.1 Operating Conditions

Calibration is best performed under the standard conditions recommended by the manufacturer of the test

instrument. Precision test instruments usually are calibrated in a location where the temperature is maintained

within certain prescribed limits, and where the calibration standard and test instrument are not subjected to

sudden changes in temperature. It is recommended, therefore, that the Morehouse Universal Calibrating Ma

-

chine be installed and used where such conditions prevail.

The calibrating machine is designed for calibration of both tension type and compression type test instru

-

ments. Figure 10 illustrates the suggested calibration setups for tension and compression.
