Afterwards the adapter plate has to be attached to the motor using the 4 enclosed screws. Before that you
might have to insert the small enclosed plastic spacer into the hexagonal receptor on the adapter plate
(depends on the motor).

Starting car model engines

• Before you can start the engine, you have to start up the remote control system and make sure that the

carburettor has already ingested enough fuel.

• If the tank in your model has no integrated pump, open the carburettor via the remote control (full throttle

position) and position the drive shaft of the electric starter on the engine.

• Block the opening of the sound absorber and switch the starter on for a short time until the fuel column

in the intake hose has travelled from the tank up to the carburettor.

• Close the carburettor (idle position) and connect the glow plug connector.

When operating the starter again, the combustion engine should now start up immediately.
When the combustion engine is running, the starter shaft is pulled out of the motor housing and the glow
plug connector disconnected.

Attention!

In case of unsuccessful start trials, you should first eliminate the cause of the fault before
trying to start the combustion engine again, since the start activity with the electric starter
strains your model engine.
Test the function of the glow plug and check the fuel supply. The exact adjustment of the
carburettor needles and the choke position of the carburettor for the start activity is to be
found in the documentation of the engine manufacturer.
Please also make sure that there is not too much fuel ingested by the carburettor before the
start activity since this would completely flood the combustion chamber. If you are then
trying to start with force, this could damage the glow plug, the engine or the electric starter.

• An overload protector integrated in the electric starter deactivates the drive in the electric starter

automatically, e.g. in case the combustion engine is blocked. Then cancel the start immediately; let go
of the button on the electric starter. First remove the blockade of the combustion engine before making
further start attempts.

Disposal

a) General information

At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
regulations.

b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries

You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/rechargeable
batteries. Disposing of them in the household waste is prohibited!

Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to indicate
that disposal in domestic waste is forbidden. The symbols for dangerous heavy metal
constituents are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (name on battery/rechargeable
battery, e.g. under the trash icons on the left).
You can return used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge to any collecting point
in your local community, in our stores or in any other store where batteries/rechargeable
batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.

Safety instructions

The guarantee/warranty will be void if damage is incurred resulting from non-
compliance with the operating instructions. Liability for any and all consequential
damage is excluded!
We do not assume any liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper use or the failure to observe the safety instructions! In such cases the
guarantee is voided.

• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of safety and

approval reasons (CE). Never disassemble the product; it does not contain any components that need
to be set or serviced by you.

• The electric starter is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children under 14 years of age!
• The electric starter must not get damp or wet.
• When handling the electric starter, make sure that there are no body parts or objects in the rotary area

of the starter as well as in the area of the shafts, wheels or propellers driven by it. Danger of injury in case
of improper handling of the product!

• Before motor start, make sure that the remote control system is switched on, functions correctly and that

the control stick for the throttle function is in the idle position.

• Apply the electric starter with the necessary strength to prevent slipping. However, do not use any force.

Notes on rechargeable batteries

• The electric starter must only be operated with conventional 7.2V racing packs. Never use batteries or

a mains adaptor.

• Keep rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children.
• Rechargeable batteries may not be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into fire. There is a risk of

explosion!

• Leaking or damaged batteries might cause acid burns when coming into contact with skin. Therefore use

suitable protective gloves.

• Please observe correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when connecting the rechargeable battery.
• If the device is not used for a longer period of time (e.g. storage), take out the racing pack inserted in the

electric starter to avoid damage from leaking rechargeable batteries.

• Recharge the batteries about every 3 months, as otherwise there may be a total discharge due to self-

discharge, which makes the batteries useless.

Features

The electric starter is designed for actuating 2- and 4-stroke combustion engines in car models.
The power is transmitted with a starter shaft inserted on the front of the starter. The opposite side of the
shaft engages into an adapter plate at the combustion engine. This is installed instead of the cable starter.



Operating the electric starter

The electric starter is operated with a racing pack with 6 sub-D cells each. The battery connection features
a Tamiya connector protected against reverse polarity (square connection = plus pole ("+"), see imprint
on the side ("+" and "-") next to the battery connection in the plastic housing of the electric starter.
The function button of the starter is located on top.

Attention!

Only use high-quality and high-current racing packs, otherwise the starter cannot achieve
the required torque.
Charge the racing pack before use in accordance with the respective manufacturer's
specifications.
To do so, remove the racing pack from the starter to prevent a shape distortion of the starter
housing in the case of a potential development of heat.

For installation of the adapter plate, you first have to dismantle the present cable starter from the motor.
