7.4

Short-Circuit Detection Function

This function detects a short-circuit in each channel to prevent overcurrent or an excessive temperature rise.

Description

If the IO-Link module detects a short-circuit, the module performs the current limiter operation (that imposes a limit on the
output current to a constant value and keeps the output).
If the load current becomes equal to the overcurrent detection value or lower, the module returns to normal operation.

Judgment value for short-circuit detection

A short-circuit is detected per channel if the following conditions are met.
• L+ terminal: A short-circuit is detected if the output current is 1.6A or more.
• CQ and Q terminals: A short-circuit is detected if the output current is 3A or more.

■

Notification of a detected short-circuit

If a short-circuit is detected, Channel n (CQ/Q) short-circuit detection flag (RX10 to RX1F) and Channel n (L+) short-circuit
detection flag (RX20 to RX27) turn on.
