Power-on self test
Each time you turn on the computer, the power light on the front
panel lights, and the power-on self test (POST) runs. POST checks
the computer's motherboard, mouse, keyboard, and most installed
peripheral devices.
POST displays the amount of memory that the computer is able to
access and test. Various screen prompts and messages appear after
the memory test.
NOTE
To turn off the computer during the power-on self test (POST), you
must press and hold the power button for several seconds. After
POST, a momentary press of the power button turns off the computer.
Padlock slot for computer security
To help towards preventing unauthorised personnel from opening
the computer, you can install a padlock (or an alarm loop cable) in
the small padlock slot in the back of the computer.
