Problem Possible Cause Suggested Remedy
Fan will not start Fuse circuit breaker
blown. Check main branch circuit fuses or circuit breakers.
Loose power line
connection to the
Ceiling Fan. Check line wire connections to Ceiling Fan.
Reversing switch (where
applicable) neither up or
down. Push switch either fully up or down.
Speed controller not in
correct position. Check speed controller’s position.
Fan wobbles Fan blades not horizontal
to ceiling or blade screws
are loose. Measure from ceiling to tip of blades, then rotate fan so
all 4 blades are checked for equal height from ceiling.
(Note: adjustments may be made by slight pressure up
or down on blade holders). Make sure all screws are
securely fastened.
Fan sounds noisy Top canopy touching
ceiling. Lower canopy from ceiling to ensure minimum 3mm
clearance.
Light kit glassware loose
or rattling. Threaded brass knob securing glass should be finger
tight.
Incorrect bulb(s) being
used in light kit. Check suggested bulb(s) in light kit.
Loose fan blade screws. Re-tighten all screws on fan blades but never over
tighten.
Ceiling Fan not secured
against ceiling. Re-tighten all screws in the hanging bracket or plate.
Incorrect speed
controller. Change the controller to the one supplied.
Mechanical noise Allow for at least 8 hours settling in period.
These occurrences are not covered by the
manufacturers’ warranty.
• All electric motors, including fans make some
noise and may feel hot if touched-this is not a
fault.
• Some fans wobble more than others-even in the
same model.
• Fan lights can rattle but are not covered under
warranty.
• Fan wall controllers sometimes make a slight
buzz and can become warm especially on lower
settings.
