POSITIONING THE SMOKE ALARM
CORRECT POSITION FOR SMOKE ALARM
The smoke alarm works by detection smoke when it rises.
The correct place for the alarm is
•
On the ceiling
•
Ideally in the middle of the room
•
At least 50cm away from the walls
INCORRECT POSITION FOR SMOKE ALARM
The alarm might function improperly, cause false alarm or get dirty
if it is placed
•
By kitchen appliances or in the kitchen
•
Humid areas such as showers or bathrooms
•
Next to fluorescent lights
The smoke needs to be able to get into the alarm so avoid the
following places
•
Dead-air space such as the angle of a pitched roof
•
Drafty places such as next to an airduct or a fan
•
The air volocity needs to be under 1,5m/s around the alarm

De juiste plaats voor het alarm is

Op het plafond
•
Ideaal in het midden van de kamer
•
Minstens 50cm verwijderd van de muren
ONJUISTE POSITIE VOOR DE ROOKMELDER
Het alarm werkt mogelijk niet goed, veroorzaakt vals alarm of
wordt vuil als het wordt geplaatst
•
Door keukentoestellen of in de keuken
•
Vochtige ruimtes zoals douches of badkamers
•
Naast fluorescentielampen
De rook moet het alarm kunnen activeren, dus vermijd de volgende
plaatsen
•
Dode-luchtruimte zoals de hoek van een hellend dak
•
Scheppende plaatsen zoals naast een verluchtingsbuis of
een ventilator
•
De luchtsnelheid moet minder dan 1,5m/s rond het alarm
zijn
