Not Enough Amperage
Too Much Amperage
Problem
- Not enough amperage
Remedy
- Check cable connec-
tions and the ground. If satisfacto-
ry, turn amperage up slightly on
power source, or increase weld
time setting.
Problem
- Too much amperage
Remedy
- Reduce the power
source setting, or the timer setting.
Inspect studs visually or by me-
chanical testing.
Problem -
Poor weld
Plunge of stud too short or high
amperage.
Remedy
- Ensure that stud ex-
tends 3/32 in to 3/16 in beyond the
ferrule. Make sure gun action
works smoothly and stud is cen-
tered inside of the ferrule. Foot and
leg adaptors may need adjusting or
gun needs cleaning. Power source
may be set to high.
Poor Weld
Good Weld
Poor Alignment
Problem
- Poor alignment
Remedy
- The stud and ferrule
must be held square or perpendic-
