Typical Set-Up

.

See Sections 5-2 and 5-3 for weld pa-
rameters for Constant Current (CC) and
Constant Voltage (CV) power sources.

A 10 ft (3 m) gun (maximum) is recom-
mended for use with this wire feeder.

1

Wirefeeder

Set feedroll for wire/diameter selected.
Place CC/CV switch in position that
matches type of output from power source.

2

10 ft (3 m) MIG Torch

Use properly sized liner and tip.

3

Voltage Sensing Lead With Clip

Attach clip to workpiece.

4

Input Power Cord

Connect cord to 115 volt ac receptacle (use
building receptacle or receptacle on power
source). If necessary, use properly sized
extension cords for the length required.

5

Work Cable And Clamp

Be sure cable is properly sized (see welding
power source owner’s manual). Determine
polarity required by the welding wire (DCEN
or DCEP) and  connect cable to the correct
output stud on the welding power source.

For best performance, connect cables so
polarity (DCEN or DCEP) matches that
required by welding wire.

6

Weld Cable

Be sure cable is properly sized (see welding
power source owner’s manual). Determine
polarity required by the welding wire (DCEN
or DCEP) and  connect cable to the correct
output stud on the welding power source
and to the terminal on the back of the wire
feeder.

7

Power Source

Connect to either an engine-driven or static
power source. Place CC/CV Select switch
(inside feeder compartment) in position that
matches type of output from power source
(see Section 5-1).
Use DC Constant Current (DC/CC) output
for flux-cored wire without shielding gas.
Add the gas solenoid kit for flux-cored wire
requiring shielding gas.
Use DC Constant Voltage (DC/CV) for flux-
cored wire without shielding gas. Add the
gas solenoid kit to use with mild steel, stain-
less steel, or flux-cored wire requiring a
shielding gas.
8

Shielding Gas

Add the gas solenoid kit, gas hose, regula-
tor, and gas cylinder for applications/wires
requiring shielding gas. Be sure to use the
correct gas for the wire being used.

A 10 ft (3 m) gun

(maximum) is

recommended for

use with this

wire feeder.

Use quick  connector
(not supplied)  to make
weld connections more
convenient.
