Firmware update

Firmware update procedure

FPGA firmware

The camera logic is integrated into a FPGA (

F

ield 

P

rogrammable 

G

ate 

A

rray). Its configuration is stored in an EEPROM. After a power-

up or reset the FPGA is loaded with this configuration. Configuration 
data can be downloaded via the serial interface.

Info

MIKROTRON may provide configuration files (*.ibf) on request. 

After the download of configuration data, these data are perma

-

nently stored in the EEPROM and the FPGA will be configured with 
the new data.

A power cycle or the 

:c

 command can be used to reconfigure the 

FPGA with the internally stored configuration data.

5.2 Firmware update procedure

NOTE

Once started you cannot undo this command. 

The firmware consists of two files. MIKROTRON always provides 
these files in one package. Be sure to always update both firmwares. 
Do not mix firmwares of different packages.

Note that your saved power-up and user profiles will be overwrit

ten with standard profiles.

Before you start, please make sure that you have the adequate appli

-

cation firmware available. The files may be packed (.zip file). In this 
case unzip them first. For CL cameras you need the following files:

µController: MC301xM718Axxx.ibf

FPGA: MC301xM713F.ibf

CameraLink FPGA: MC301xM718Gxxx.ibf

xxx represents the version number. For example 116 stands for ver

-

sion number 1.16.

Step 1.

Start the MC Control Tool and select your camera

Step 2.

Wait until the info screen displays the serial no. and 
firmware version
