Die Hersteller von Varistoren
geben i. A. einen unteren
Grenzwert von

an.
Da Varistoren oft durch Überhitzung aus-
fallen, ist eine Abtrennvorrichtung unbe-
dingt erforderlich, schon wegen des
Brandschutzes.
Die Statusanzeige am Ableiter (rot-
grün) zeigt nur an, ob der Varistor we-
gen Überhitzung vom Netz getrennt
wurde und nicht ob die Schutz-
funktion noch gewährleistet ist.
Ein Varistor zwischen N und PE kann
nicht überhitzen selbst bei Totalausfall.

The status indicator (red-green) only
shows whether the varistor is dis-
connected from mains because of
overheating and not if the protection
is guaranteed or not.
A varistor connected to N and PE can
not overheat because of lack of ener-
gy.
