SCM4000
Operator’s Guide/Tech Ref Manual
For fixed installations, the SCM4000 can be mounted in a
standard 19-inch (48.3 cm) rack. The cabling is permanently
installed and power comes from the facility or site power source.
For mobile applications, the SCM4000 is usually mounted in a
bulkhead or compartment in a 19-inch (48.3 cm) rack. The
cabling is permanently installed and power comes from the
mobile power source.
For power and grounding requirements, refer to the
(part of the SCM4000 Technical Reference
Manual only).
The procedures required to power up and power down the
SCM4000 are contained in the following steps. The steps are
applicable to all configurations of the SCM4000.
Power Up
1.
Verify the power cable is properly connected to the
SCM4000 rear panel power connector.
2.
Verify all coaxial cables and cable connectors are
properly connected to the rear panel connectors.
3.
Connect the SCM4000 power cable to AC or DC
power of the correct type, voltage, and polarity, as
applicable to the power option installed in your unit.
If you are unsure of the power requirements or
connections, refer to the
(part of the SCM4000 Technical Reference
Manual only).
4.
Verify the power source is turned on.
5.
Set the SCM4000 rear panel power switch to on (
I
).

The normal power-up sequence is as follows:
The front panel green
POWER
LED should illuminate.

The alphanumeric display should illuminate and the
Main Screen (
) should be displayed.
Note that the Main Screen will differ, depending upon
the hardware configuration of your SCM4000.

Power Down
1.
Set the SCM4000 rear panel power switch to off (
O
).
2.
Set the power source off, as required.
Once the SCM4000 is powered up, you will be able to monitor
and/or change certain operating parameters through the use of
the menus displayed on the front panel alphanumeric display.
All options are dependent upon the actual configuration of
the SCM4000 and the Preset operation mode settings.
After programming the SCM4000 Preset operation mode
settings using the SCM4000 menus, the settings for each Preset
should be recorded. The
