Routine Operation 3-3 SCM4000 Operator’s Guide/Tech Ref Manual
The function keys must be pressed and released to step through
individual menu selections, options, and settings. Each press
and release of a key moves the cursor only one step through the
menu selections, options, or settings. It may be necessary to
repeatedly press and release the key to reach or select the
required individual menu selection, option, or setting.
Please note that pressing and holding a key will not
automatically scroll through the menu selections, options, or
settings.
3.2.2 SCM4000 Modulator Connectors
Connectors contained on the Modulator configuration of the
SCM4000 are identified in
Figure 3-2 on page 3-4 and are
described below. Connectors covered are as follows:

Modulator DB-9 Front Panel RS232 Connector The RS232
DB-9 male connector is used for factory test and is located
behind an access cover.
Modulator AC/DC Power Connector The AC/DC power
connector provides connection to the removable external AC/DC
power cable. The power connector is part of the power switch
assembly.
Modulator BNC IF OUT Connector The IF OUT 75 ohm BNC
female connector provides the 70 MHz IF output signal.
Modulator RJ-45 T1/E1 10/100 Connectors The RJ-45 10/100
BaseT connectors provide T1/E1 or Ethernet connections.
Modulator BNC 1 and 2 Connectors The 1 ASI DS3/E3 and 2
ASI DS3/E3 75 ohm BNC female connectors provide ASI or
DS3/E3 inputs.
Modulator BNC 3 Connector The 3 ASI SMPTE 75 ohm BNC
female connector provides ASI or SMPTE310 inputs.
Modulator DB-9 Rear Panel RS232/485 Connector The
RS232/485 DB-9 female connector provides connections for
either RS232 or RS485 operation.
Modulator DB-9 SUM ALARM Connector The SUM ALARM
DB-9 female connector provides summary alarm data for
common faults and events.
