pleted. The counter for the remaining days until the next service is reset by the manufacturer or serv-
ice partner during the maintenance work.
13.2.1 Calibration and zero point adjustment
CAUTION:
The work described in this section of the instructions must only be performed by qualified
personnel trained to handle H2S calibration gas.

13.2.1.1 Safety instructions for handling H2S gas
DANGER:
Extreme caution is required when handling calibration gases!
Hydrogen sulphide is a neurotoxic substance that can cause poisoning and even death
depending on the concentration.
It has the following effects on humans:

~ 0.1ppm: Odour threshold
l
from 20ppm: Corneal damage following prolonged exposure
l
approx. 100ppm: Irritation of the mucous membranes in the eyes and respiratory system, sal-
ivation, irritation of the throat
l
> 200ppm: Headache, breathing difficulties
l
> 250ppm: Impairment of the olfactory receptors
l
> 300ppm: Nausea
l
approx. 500ppm: Weakness, drowsiness, dizziness (life threatening within a few minutes)
l
> 500 ppm: Seizures, unconsciousness (fatal within a few seconds)
Long-term effects following exposure to low doses include tiredness, loss of appetite, headaches,
irritability, poor memory and a lack of concentration.
The greatest caution must therefore be exercised depending on the calibration gas used.
The maximum admissible concentration (MAC value) at the workplace for H2S is 10ppm.
13.2.1.2 Calibration
Note: The most precise results are achieved in a specially equipped calibration room.
