15. APPENDIX 1: PATIENT RECOMMENDATIONS
PEDIATRIC USE
― In the case of pediatrics, it is highly recommended that a nurse or physician
demonstrates the use to the parents.
― Such a recording must be operated under parental supervision.
CAUTION : If Spider SAS is not used, it must be placed in the blue transportation bag and
out of reach of children and animals.
If Spider SAS is worn, do not let children and animals touch equipment, nasal cannula or
sensors.
REMINDERS
― The patient shall be informed by a trained nurse or physician about the objectives of the
recording.
― The patient should never take a shower or bath while the device is hooked up, since this
will damage the device or make it completely unusable.
― In order to take a shower or bath, the patient should remove it and hook it up again using
new electrodes. The nurse or technician shall therefore teach the patient how to position
the electrodes according to the diagrams in §8.3 of this manual and provide him / her
with spare electrodes. Switching the electrode position a little to the left or to the right will
help prevent skin damage.
― Conductive parts of ELECTRODES (including the NEUTRAL ELECTRODE), should not
be put in contact with conductive parts or earthed parts.
― Teach and repeat to the patient that he / she should not re-apply electrodes on irritated
or injured areas (recent scars, wounds …)
― If the patient does not carry the recorder, he / she should leave it inside the blue pouch
provided to transport accessories and should not switch it off.
― If the recorder is not used, it passes automatically into sleep mode. The recorder "wakes
up" as soon as electrodes are repositioned on the chest and the patient cable correctly
connected.
― The patient must contact his/her physician immediately if electrodes or holster cause
irritation of the skin.
― The patient sometimes checks that the LED (1) (§7.1) flashes green. It means that the
recording is always in progress. In the case of a problem, he / she will get in touch with
his / her physician or hospital department.
― The patient will immediately contact his / her physician in the case of unexpected
symptoms which could require urgent analysis of the recording.
NASAL CANNULA
The tube of nasal or oral and nasal cannula ends by a female Luer lock connector. φ Hub is
equipped with a male connector located on the right side of the device (see § 7.2 Physio Hub
Parts).
