KSZ8842-16 MQL Demo Quick Start Guide
Demo Set-up and Getting Started
The KSZ8842-16MQL demo board set up as shown in the Figure 1.
PC with Windows
98, 2000 or XP
KS8842-16 Demo Board
Ethernet Cable
RS232 Cable

Please perform the following steps to power on the Demo Board.
1. Connect the RS-232 serial cable between the PC and the Demo Board.
2. Connect the Ethernet cable between the PC and the Demo Board.
3. On the PC, open the Hyper Terminal as follows:
Go to: Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal and click
on HyperTerminal .
Type in a name at the prompt e.g. “KSZ8842 Demo” and press OK
Select COM1 port and press OK
Fill in the COM1 Properties parameters as shown in Figure 2 and press OK
4. Plug in the 5V DC jack to power on the Demo Board

Normally the Hyper Terminal window will display as shown in Figure 3 after the demo board is
powered up or reset.
