Diamond Wheel Mounting
To mount Type 1 diamond wheels on these
tools use item number 55.038 diamond wheel
mounting kit. Place the appropriate number of
washers onto the spindle followed by the cone
shaped piece (with the wider side against the
wheel) and then the diamond wheel. Affix the
threaded flange nut last with the raised side
facing the wheel. Tighten with the 23.934 face
spanner supplied.
Cup Wheel Mounting
Use only cup wheels having a rated RPM
higher than the no load RPM of the tool.
Inspect for damage before mounting.
To use cup wheels on the tool, the appropriate
size cup wheel guard as listed under optional
equipment must replace the standard wheel
guard.
After placing the guard on the gearbox flange
tighten the collar.
Lock the spindle by pressing the spindle lock
button (1). Screw the threaded cup wheel
onto the spindle and tighten well.
Backing Pads and Sanding
Discs
Only backing pads suitable for the no-load
speed stated on the tool should be used.
When using fiber backed sanding discs, it is
recommended that flexible backing pads
Cat. No. 23.281 (7") or Cat. No. 23.282 (9")
be used. For working with sanding discs, the
wheel guard can either remain on the tool or
be removed. If the wheel guard is removed, it
is recommended that hand guard number
30.332 be fitted under the side handle of the
tool. Place the backing pad and sanding disc
on to the spindle and thread on the nut
supplied with the pad. Engage the spindle
lock (1) and tighten the nut with face spanner
number 23.934, or 23.910.
Wire Cup Brush – Wire Wheels
Thread the wire cup brush onto the spindle.
Engage the spindle lock (1) and tighten the
brush with an open-end wrench. For wire
wheels, you must first remove the guard. If
the guard is removed, it is recommended that
hand guard number 30.332 be fitted under
the side handle of the tool.
Hand Guard 30.332
To fit a 30.332 hand guard on the tool,
unscrew the side handle and place the hand
guard so that the rectangular plate of the guard
is between the wheel or pad and the handle.
Test Run
Before using a newly fitted wheel or accessory
you should test run it for safety. Make sure
that you are in a safe position, then run the
grinder or sander with the wheel or accessory
fitted for about 1 minute to make sure that
there is no problem.
Maintenance
Your angle grinder/sander should be given a
proper maintenance in order to ensure
efficient performance and long life.
All maintenance should be performed by
skilled personnel or an Authorized
Metabo
Corporation Service Center.
Warning: Before performing
any maintenance work,
disconnect the tool from the
power source.
Motor cleaning: blow compressed air through
the rear ventilation slots of the machine
regularly, frequently and thoroughly. Here, the
machine must be held firmly.
Carbon Brushes
All Metabo angle grinders and sanders have
auto-stop carbon brushes. When the brushes
are worn down, the automatic tripping device
of the brush brakes the circuit and the tool
stops running.
Brushes should only replaced by a trained
technician with the right equipment. Before
replacing the carbon brushes, disconnect the
tool from the power source.
For replacement of the brushes, the
covers located on the sides of the
motor housing must be removed.
Remove the female brush terminal from its
male counterpart and pull the brush straight
up out of the holder.
Use only factory original replacement brush-
es. Replace brushes in pairs only. Make sure
that the brushes slide freely in their holders.
