X
Clean blocked vent holes with a suitable
tool, e.g. a piece of wire.
If the vent holes are blocked, gases cannot
escape.
X
Recharge batteries that are not in use with a
no-load voltage of less than 12.4 V.

Even if the power supply is interrupted with
the EMERGENCY OFF switch, the activation
switch or the battery isolator switch, the
charge retention socket is not disconnected
from the batteries.
Parking up the vehicle
Notes on parking up the vehicle
If the vehicle is to be out of use for longer than
3 weeks:
X
Interrupt the voltage supply with the battery
The charge maintenance socket remains
connected to the battery to ensure that it
can continue to be charged.
or
X
Disconnect the negative terminal at the bat-
tery.
This prevents the battery from being dis-
charged by no-load current consumers.
Recharge the batteries:
R
before putting the vehicle back into opera-
tion
R
at least every 3 months for longer periods of
disuse
When parking up the vehicle, special measures
according to Mercedes-Benz Specifications for
Service Products Sheets No. 381.0 and
No. 382.0 need to be taken. You can obtain
detailed information from any Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
Battery disconnect switch
General notes
You can interrupt the voltage supply to the
starter batteries using the battery isolator
switch. You should only do this if the vehicle
will not be used for an extended period of
time.
The (mechanical) battery isolator switch can
only be used if all electrical devices and the
ignition are switched off. For vehicles that are
equipped for the transport of hazardous goods
(European Agreement concerning the Interna-
tional Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road),
you must allow for an additional run-on time of
5 minutes before using the battery isolator
switch.
In addition, the auxiliary heating system must
be switched off. This has a run-on time of
approximately 5 minutes. The battery isolator
switch can only be used once the run-on
phase is complete.
The sequence described above must be fol-
lowed in order to prevent malfunctions or
damage to the control unit.
