Vehicle stability
For approval of the vehicle with body modifications/
equipment mounted, a calculation of the height of the
center of gravity of the laden vehicle in accordance
with FMVSS/CMVSS standards must be submitted.
See section 5 “Technical threshold values for planning”
(
Page 47) for the permissible center of gravity
heights.
UPFITTER MANAGEMENT VANS will make no state-
ments concerning:
•
driving characteristics
•
braking characteristics
•
steering characteristics
•
behavior during ESP
®
intervention
This applies to vehicle modifications intended for
operation with loads with unfavorable centers of gravity
(e.g. loads at the rear end, high loads and side loads),
as these aspects are primarily influenced by vehicle
modification work and can therefore be assessed exclu-
sively by the upfitter.
a
WARNING
When driving dynamics become critical, the vehicle
behaves like a vehicle without ESP®. The GAWR,
GVWR and center of gravity locations must be
complied with. If GAWR, GVWR and center of gravity
locations are exceeded, this has a significant effect
on driving stability and handling characteristics and
can result in serious injury or death.
Never exceed the GAWR or GVWR.
a
WARNING
Never exceed the GAWR. If you exceed the GAWR
the ESP system may not function and the driving
stability and handling characteristics may be com-
promised leading to an accident with serious injury
or death. Additional information on weight limits is
available in the identification data on the vehicle
