Ethernet Interfaces
The four Ethernet interfaces of the GM3 are led to the CompactPCI Serial connector
P6. See
Chapter 2.3.1 CompactPCI Serial Interface on page 15
.
The Ethernet controller is connected to the CPU board via a PCI Express x1 link
over the board-to-board connector. It is compliant to the IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, and
802.3ab standards. The four Ethernet interfaces reach a performance of about 100
Mbit/s read and/or write when used simultaneously.
The GM3 supports Wake-on-LAN functionality.
The unique MAC address is set at the factory and should not be changed. Any
attempt to change this address may create node or bus contention and thereby render
the board inoperable. The naming of the interfaces may differ depending on the
operating system. The MAC addresses on GM3 are:
ETH 1:
0x 00 C0 3A A4 Bx xx - 0x 00 C0 3A A4 BF FF
ETH 2:
0x 00 C0 3A A4 Cx xx - 0x 00 C0 3A A4 CF FF
ETH 3:
0x 00 C0 3A A4 Dx xx - 0x 00 C0 3A A4 DF FF
ETH 4:
0x 00 C0 3A A4 Ex xx - 0x 00 C0 3A A4 EF FF
where "00 C0 3A" is the MEN vendor code,
A4
is the MEN product code. The last
four digits depend on the interface and the serial number of the product. The serial
number is added to the offset, for example for LAN1:
Serial number 0042: 0x xx xx = 0x002A = 0x B0 2A.(See
