IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Congratulations on your purchase of the Memorex MW601 Bluetooth Waterproof
Rechargeable Speaker that can withstand all of the rigors of the great outdoors. It’s
IPX6 certification means you can submerge it down to 1M of water and protect it from
sudden inclement weather, splash zones and even dust and dirt! The Bluetooth
®
A2DP
wireless technology easily pairs with your compatible mobile devices, or select digital
FM radio, MP3 files on USB drive or Aux-in line connection to offer you the best choices
for your audio listening pleasure. Use the USB Charger port to recharge portable
devices. Rechargeable Lithium battery provides 6-8 hours of playback on a single
charge! Please follow these operational instructions carefully. Save them for future
reference.
TO ACCESS JACKS
To access the jacks under the back cover, simply lift up the back over snap
and the door will open to expose the jacks. See illustration below. Do not
submerge this unit while the back cover is open.
RECHARGEABLE BATTERY
The MW601 Bluetooth H2O
Extreme Speaker features a
built-in rechargeable battery
that can be charged using the
Micro USB Jack located on
the rear of the unit (under the
cover). Before first use, fully
recharge the speaker for a
minimum of 8 hours for optimal
performance and battery life.
1. Open the back cover and
connect charging cable
(included) to a computer
USB port or USB power adapter with 5V supply.
2. When connected to a power source, the CHARGE indicator will light solid
Red to indicate the charging is in progress.
3. The CHARGE indicator will turn off when the integrated battery is fully
charged.
CHARGING AN EXTERNAL DEVICE
You can charge an external device by connecting its USB charging cable into
the rear USB CHARGING socket under the back cover. Press and hold the
Power button for three seconds to start charging. Charging does not work
while in the FM mode.
OPERATION
Pair a Bluetooth-Enabled Mobile Device
1. Turn on MW601 by pressing the Power button.
2. Repeatedly press the Function button
to select the Bluetooth mode (“bt”
will appear in the display and a tone will sound). The unit will automatically
search for and pair to a previously paired Bluetooth device (if previously
paired). You can also press and hold the Pair button for 2 seconds to
begin pairing; the “bt” PAIR indicator will blink.
3. Turn on your mobile device’s Bluetooth option in settings to search for a
discoverable device with a Bluetooth signal. Select MRX-MW601 from the
device results on your smartphone or tablet. “bt” will blink slowly when
searching and pairing and light solid when connected.
4. You can also switch between paired devices or pair a new device by
pressing and holding the Pair button
for 2 seconds; “bt” will blink in the
display.
5. You will hear an audible tone indicating the Bluetooth connection is now

6. Use “0000” if a pairing code is necessary on your mobile device.
7. Find your music selection on your mobile device, select play and enjoy!

If connection is lost after successful pairing, check to make sure the distance
between speaker and Bluetooth-enabled device does not exceed 33ft/10m.
If the connection is interrupted due to low battery, switch the speaker off,
recharge the internal battery, and repeat steps when fully charged.
Listen to Music Using USB with MP3 Audio Files
1. Access the back cover as previously described to reveal the USB MP3
socket.
2. Insert a USB drive in the “USB MP3” jack.
3. Repeatedly press the Function button to select the USB mode; the unit
will automatically start playing the music after up to 60 seconds.

7. To remove the USB Thumb drive, first turn the unit’s power off by pressing
the Power button.
Listen to Music Using FM-PLL Radio
Enjoy your favorite FM stations with crisp, digital tuning and easy
programming for station presets. The FM funtion does not work while
charging an external device.
1. Repeatedly press the Function button to select the FM mode.
2. Manually search for stations by tapping the Tune/Skip

buttons or
auto search by pressing and holding the buttons for 2 seconds; the next
strong FM station will tune in.
3. To save station selections, tune in a station, and then press and hold the
Stop /MEM button for 2 secods. Select a program using the Tune/Skip

buttons then confirm the preset by pressing the Stop /MEM button.
4. Repeat step 3 to save up to 20 stations for recall.
5. To recall and play preset stations, press the Stop /MEM button and
select a program using the Tune/Skip

Listen to Music Using the Line-In Source
This unit provides an auxiliary audio signal input jack for connecting external
audio devices like MP3 players, CD players and listening to your external
source through the speakers of this system.
1. Access the back cover as previously described to reveal the USB MP3
socket.
2. Insert one end of an audio cable into the Line Out Jack (or Headphone
Jack) on your external audio device and the other end into the AUX Jack of
this unit.
3. Repeatedly press the Function button to select the AUX mode.
4. Use the connected external audio device to play and pause music. Sound
will be heard through the speaker.
5. Adjust the speaker volume level either by pressing the Volume “
+
” or “
–
”
buttons on this unit, or by using the volume controls on the external device.
Notes:
• Charging time will vary if you listen to music while charging the battery. Turn off the
speaker during the charging process or until battery is fully charged.
• To prolong battery life, completely discharge before fully recharging again.
• Recharge the battery at least once a month.
MAINTAINING YOUR SYSTEM FOR CONTINUED ENJOYMENT
• When not in use, turn the unit off. To extend the battery life of your external audio/mobile
device, turn off the Bluetooth signal when not in use.
• Keep the unit away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
• Clean durable rubberized exterior with a damp soft cloth.
• Protect your furniture when placing the unit on wood and lacquered finishes.
Notes:
• When the unit is on and in Bluetooth source mode, the speaker will auto-matically try
to connect to the most recently played paired device when available. Up to six devices
maximum may be stored in Bluetooth memory.
• To avoid interference, deactivate Wi-Fi on your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.)
when using Bluetooth.

5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
6. Clean only with a dry cloth.
7. Do not block any of the ventilation openings.
Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such
as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other
apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce

9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized
or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has
two blades with one wider than the other. A
grounding-type plug has two blades and a
third grounding prong. The wide blade or the
third prong are provided for your safety. When
the provided plug does not fit into your outlet,
consult an electrician for replacement of the
obsolete outlet.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Not Charging:
• Check to make sure the USB cable (provided) is plugged into the Micro USB Jack
and the other end is plugged into a USB Power Adapter or Powered USB jack on a
computer.
• Plug another device into the same outlet to confirm the power source is working.
Sound not clear or no sound:
• Check volume levels on both MW601 speaker and connected device.
• Check distance between this unit and the connected device.
Music does not play from external device:
• Make sure you are using a Bluetooth-enabled device.
• Select MRX-MW601 as your speaker device, disconnect this unit and device from
pairing with all other devices.
• Check if both devices are connected.
• Restart the MW601 and auto-connect with the Bluetooth-enabled device.
Unit gets warm after extended play at high volume
• This is normal; turn the unit off for a period of time or lower the volume.
