Basic Playback Options
Search - When you’re playing a disc, each time you press SEARCH

scans the disc faster until you reach the fastest scan speed. To resume normal playback, press

Pause and Step - While a disc is playing, press PAUSE to pause the picture. To advance one frame at
a time, press PAUSE/STEP repeatedly. To resume normal playback, press PLAY.
Note: After approximately one minute in PAUSE with no user interaction, the player goes into screen
saver mode.
Skip - While a disc is playing, you can skip forward or backward a chapter or track at a time by pressing
the SKIP

Zoom - While a disc is playing, press ZOOM (the player zooms in on the image). Each time you press
ZOOM, the picture is magnified even more (until you get to the maximum zoom level). To see other
parts of the picture when you’ve zoomed in on the image, try pressing the

buttons to go in
corresponding directions. This feature is called pan and scan.
Note: Zoom Function is for VCD/SVCD/DVD disc only Zoom function is not available for jpeg disc.
Slow/F - Press the PAUSE/STEP button to pause the playback, then repeatedly press the Search

button to move the DVD forward in slow motion speeds of 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and resume normal
playback. The sound will be muted. Press the ENTER/PLAY (

) button to resume normal playback.
TITLE/CHAPTER SEARCH - Press the SEARCH button once. Press the Navigation (

) buttons to
select the Title (“TT”), then use the Number buttons to select the desired title number (i.e. for number 5,
press “0”, “5”). Playback will start immediately. OR
Press the Navigation (

) buttons to select the Chapter (“CH”), then use the Number buttons to
select the desired chapter number (i.e. for number 2, press “0”, “2”). Playback will start immediately.
TITLE/CHAPTER/TIME SEARCH - Press the SEARCH button twice. Press the Navigation (

buttons to select the Title (“TT”), then use the Number buttons to select the desired title number
(i.e. for number 5, press “0”, “5”). Playback will start immediately. OR

the desired Title Time (Hour/Minutes/Seconds); playback will start immediately. Press the SEARCH
button a third time. Press the Navigation (

To return to the Standby mode while the unit is on, press and hold the STANDBY/STOP button for two
seconds then release; the unit will be turned off and the Standby indicator will light on.
Setup and Connections
Replace Battery in the Remote
CAUTION: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.
• Remove the Battery Compartment cover by pressing in on the tab
and then llifting the cover off.
• Insert a CR2025 button-type battery with “+” facing up to the battery
comparment and replace the battery compartment cover.
• Do not use rechargeable batteries.
• Dispose of batteries in the proper manner, according to federal,
state, and local regulations.
Picture CD
Picture CD are image files (make sure they have a resolution of less than 5 megapixels
Note: The time taken for the contents of the disc to be displayed varies according to the size and
number of Picture CD actually on the disc. If nothing is displayed after a few minutes, it is likely
that certain files are too large. In this case, reduce the files resolution to less than 5 megapixels
and write another disc.
Picture CD Basic Operation
• Press the STANDBY ON/OFF button to turn on the unit; the STANDBY indicator will go out.
• Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray, “OPEN” will appear on the screen. Insert a
picture disc with the label side facing up on the disc tray.
• Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to close the disc tray. “LOADING” will appear on the TV screen.
After loading, playback will start automatically. Press the Skip (

) or (

) button to skip through the
pictures. The unit will playback all the pictures on the disc then the menu will appear on the TV
screen. Press the Navigation (

,
6
) to select the desired picture and press the ENTER button to
playback the desired picture again. If the screen saver option is set to on, the screen saver will turn
on in about one minute when the menu appears on the TV screen.
To select a photo during playback: press the Number buttons corresponding to the picture that you
would like to view (i.e. for the first picture on the disc, enter “0”,
“0”, “1”).
To pause the photo slideshow:
press the PAUSE/STEP button.
To resume playback:
press the ENTER/PLAY button.
To stop playback of the picture CD: press the STOP button.

Playing Discs
Compatible Discs
This DVD Player is capable of playing the following types of discs: DVDs, Audio CDs, Video CDs, and
CDs with MP3 files, and Kodak Picture CD on them. Before you put a disc in the player, make sure it is
compatible.
You can’t play the following types of discs: Laser discs, CD-I, CD-ROM (computer - only discs), DVD-
ROM, or discs recorded using other broadcast standards (i.e., PAL or SECAM); CD-G discs.
Notes: Some discs may not be compatible due to laser pickup, recording formats, and software used.
Some technologies and methods used for mp3 file recording on CD-Rs can prevent optimal
playback of these files on your DVD player by degrading the sound quality and/or the ability of
the player to read the file.
Regional Coding
Both the DVD Player and the discs are coded by region. These regional codes must match in order for
the disc to play.
The region code for this DVD player is listed on the back of the player.
DVD/CD/VCD Basic Operation
1. Plug the power cord into the outlet once the DVD player is connected to your TV.
2. Turn on the TV and tune to its Video Input Channel, if necessary.
3. Press the should be STANDBY ON/OFF on the DVD player or the STANDBY ON/OFF button on the
remote control to turn it on.
4. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the front of the player or remote control to open the disc try.
5. Place a disc gently into the tray with the disc’s label facing up (double-sided discs have content on
both sides, so you can place the disc with either side up.)
6. Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the disc tray. Play starts automatically. If a menu appears, use
the Navigation (

) buttons to select the desired option and the ENTER/PLAY (

) button to
select it.
7. Press STOP to stop playback. The player will stop completely. If the player is left in STOP mode for
more than one minute without any user interaction, the screen saver is activated.
There will be no resume function for playing CDs.
Audio (DVD, VCD and CD)
Some discs have several audio tracks used for different languages or different audio formats. To change
the language or audio format during play, press the AUDIO button one or more times to select one of
the available audio formats or languages. For CD/VCD select (Mono-left, Mono-right, Mix-mono, Stereo).
Note: This option is only available if the disc offers a number of languages or formats.
Display
The Display appears across the top of the screen when you press the DISPLAY button on the remote
while playing a disc. Press the DISPLAY button repeatedly to scroll through playback information.
Playback Control (PBC)
The Playback Control feature is available only on Video CDs. Press the DVD MENU/PBC button to turn
the PBC feature on and off. The Playback Control feature supports the menus of the VCD format similar
to a DVD menu.
Mute
To temporarily mute the playback sound, press the MUTE button.
Subtitle Menu
Press the SUBTITLE menu button to select a subtitle language and the turn the subtitle menu on/off if
your subtitle feature is available on the disc.
Title Menu
To display the title menu if available on the disc press the TITLE menu button. Then use the Navigation
buttons to select your desired option and press Enter.
Menu System
The DVD Player Menu System
The DVD player menu system is not the same as the disc menu. The DVD player menu appears when
there’s no disc playing.
To access the DVD player menus:
• Press the SETUP button to display the main menu.
• Select a menu icon using the

and
4
buttons.
• Use the
5
and
6
buttons to select one of the
options in the menu.
• Press the
4
button to access the submenu.
• Use the
5
and
6
buttons select one of the options
in the submenu.
• Press ENTER/PLAY to confirm your selection.
• Return to a previous menu using the
3
button.
• To exit from the player menus, press the SETUP
button repeatedly.

TV DISPLAY
Your can choose a display that affects how a disc’s content appears on your TV screen.
Normal/PS (4:3 Standard): reproduces a 4:3 picture with some distortion.
Normal/LB (4:3 Letterbox): gives best reproduction of pictures recorded in this format (i.e., with
horizontal bands at the top and buttom of the screen)
Wide (16:9 Widescreen): reproduces 16:9 format films in full, on a 16:9 screen.
TV TYPE
NTSC: Select when using an NTSC TV.
PAL:
Select when using a PAL TV.
IMPORTANT: In the USA, the standard is NTSC.
Playback Modes
Repeat Playback
While the disc is playing, press REPEAT/A-B button repeatedly to select a play mode:
DVD play modes: Chapter repeat, Title repeat, A-B repeat;
CD play modes: Track repeat, All track repeat.
OFF Mode: No repeat function
VCD Mode: Track repeat, All track repeat, A-B repeat (Make sure PBC is OFF for tracks and all tracks
repeat.)
A-B Repeat
To repeat a segment between two points (A and B), press the REPEAT/A-B button three times to define
the segment you want to repeat. Allow the disc to play to the end of the segment or use FORWARD to
advance to the end point(B). Press the REPEAT/A-B button again at the end of the segment. The
segment. The segment plays repeatedly until you press REPEAT/A-B to resume normal playback.
Advanced Playback Features
Angle
Anglemarks are not available on all DVDs.
To select Angle, press ANGLE button during playing DVD which show the Angle mark.
Playback of MP3
Playing MP3
MP3 is an audio file format which compresses recorded music. The main advantage of the mp3 format
is the ability to store CD - quality music tracks on a personal computer in a user - friendly, compressed
files.
Before inserting a disc, check that it is compatible with the player:
1. Turn on the DVD and open the disc tray by pressing OPEN/CLOSE.
2. Place the disc in the tray with the printed side facing up and close the tray.
3. Select a folder using the

and
5
buttons on the remote control; press ENTER/PLAY to see the
folder’s contents.
4. Select a track using the
6
and
5
buttons on the remote control; press ENTER/PLAY to start
playback.
5. Press the STOP button to stop playback.
6. To go back to the folder list, press the
3
button in stop mode.
7. Skip & Search function, please refer to the basic playback options.
Connecting the DVD to a home theater system
DVD Connection For Home Theatre System Connect the Coaxial Digital Out terminal to the Home
Theatre Amplifier has the corresponding digital input terminal. Then connect your amplifier 5.1 channel
speaker outputs to the front, centre, rear speakers and subwoofer respectively to produce the surround
sound effect. Also connect the video out or S-video out of this DVD player to TV video input respectively
to see the picture.

Connection: DVD + TV
Note: Whenever you are connecting your system cables, turn off the power and make certain that the
power cord has been removed from the wall outlet.
1. Connect the audio cables to the AUDIO OUT L and R jack on the back of your DVD player and to the
corresponding AUDIO INPUT jacks on your TV.
2. Connect the video Cable.
2a. Basic connection - Connect the video cable to the VIDEO OUT jack on the back of the your DVD
player, and to the VIDEO INPUT jack on your TV
2b. S-Video (not shown) - If your TV has an S-Video jack, connect the S-Video cable (not provided) to
the S-VIDEO on the DVD to the S-VIDEO of your TV.
Note: If your TV doesn’t have Audio and Video input jacks and only has an RF jack, you need to
connect an FR modulator (not provided).
If your TV has a Component input, connect the DVD player with the component cable or the best
result, otherwise use the S-Video or Video OUT jack on the DVD player.
Other Connection Options
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT (Pr, Pb, Y) jacks
The Pr, Pb, Y jacks provide optimum picture quality because
the video signal is separated into three parts.
To ensure maximum picture quality use three video-grade
cables (yellow) for the connection. You can also buy bundled
component video cables that are color - coded to match the
Pr, Pb, Y jacks (red, blue, and green).
When using the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT
(Pr, Pb, Y) jacks of the DVD to connect to another component
with the same type jacks, remember to change the Video Out
setting in the General Setup Page menu to YUV (Component).
The default setting is S-Video.
Note: Remember to connect the audio cables because the
component cable carries only the picture signal, not the
sound.
DIGITAL OUT COAXIAL
Use this jack to connect your DVD player to a Dolby Digital
receiver or decoder. If the DVD player is connected to a DTS
receiver through DIGITAL OUT and DTS track is selected,
there will be no sound.
Note: Some receivers have either the Coaxial / Optical type
digital audio input jack and some have both. Under most
conditions, optical and coaxial connections work equally
well-the only difference is the type of cable you connect
to the jack.
PROGRESSIVE - SCAN
Use these jacks connect to a TV with progressive video
input jacks and set the progressive scan switch to on.
If you connect a TV that is not compatible with a progressive
scan signal and the progressive scan switch is in on position,
“PSCAN” will disappear from the screen.
Note: Consumers should note that not all high definition TV
are fully compatible with this product in case of 525
progressive Scan picture problems, it is recommend that
the user set the progressive scan switch to “OFF”.
