STARTING
Inserting the batteries
1.
Open and remove the battery compartment cover as shown in diagram.
2.
Insert the batteries with the correct polarity as shown by the symbols on the battery
compartment cover.
3.
Replace the battery compartment cover.

IMPORTANT:
• Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.
Use alkaline or rechargable batteries.
• Replace the batteries immediately if the battery indicator starts flashing.
• Remove the batteries if the instrument is not going to be used for some time.
• Recycle used batteries in accordance with local regulations.
USE
Starting/stopping
Press the button for a few seconds to switch on the instrument. The instrument starts with its
standard settings: single measurement, reference on back edge and metric measuring. The symbols
for battery status and laser signal strength are also displayed, see fig. C.

Press the
button for a few seconds to switch off the instrument manually. The laser switches off
automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity, and the complete instrument switches off automatically
after 3 minutes of inactivity.
Deletion
Tap the
button to delete the last command or the displayed data line by line.
Changing the measurement reference
By default the instrument is set to measure with its back edge as a reference. The instrument
starts in this mode. Press the button to change the reference.
Backlight
The display backlight is by default switched off. Press the
button to switch the
backlight on/off.

Metric display is the default setting. Press the
button for a few seconds to switch to decimal
display in feet (ft), inches (in) or combination of feet and inches (' “), see fig. D.
Measurement
Single measurement
If the button is pressed when the instrument is already switched on, this will activate the laser.
Point the laser beam at the measurement object and press the button again to trigger a single
measurement. The result is then displayed, see fig. E.

Continuous measurement
If the button is pressed for a few seconds when the instrument is already switched on this will
activiate continuous measuring and the
symbol starts flashing.
MIN: MINIMUM VALUE
MAX: MAXIMUM VALUE
The instantaneous value is shown on the bottom line in the display, see fig. F.
