off. Remember that a moment of
inattention or carelessness when working
with a hedge trimmer can result in serious
personal injury.
• Only hold and carry the hedge trimmer
when the blades are not moving. Hold by
the handles and make sure not to
accidently press a switch. Holding and
carrying the hedge trimmer correctly
reduces the risk of accidental starting and
the subsequent risk of the blades causing
personal injury.
• Transport and store the hedge trimmer
with the blade guard fitted. Correct
handling of the hedge trimmer reduces the
risk of personal injury from the blades.
• Check that all the switches are switched off
and that the plug is unplugged before
removing jammed material or servicing the
product. If the hedge trimmer is started
accidentally during service or when
removing material there is a risk of serious
personal injury.
• Hold the hedge trimmer by the insulated
grips, there is a risk that the blades can
come into contact with concealed electric
cables or its own power cord. If the blades
come into contact with a live cable the
metal parts on the hedge trimmer will also
become live – risk of electric shock.
• Keep electric cables and leads away from
the work area. Electric cables and leads can
be concealed in hedges and bushes, and
can be accidentally cut by the blades.
• Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad
weather, especially when there is a risk of
thunderstorms. This will reduce the risk of
being struck by lightning.
