Bandwidth Control
The MD8000 system always secures the necessary bandwidth for Stream frames with the
highest priority. Being handled with the lower priority, Data frames may be discarded within
the system when the necessary bandwidth for higher priority frames is becoming unavailable.
Figure 2-33 illustrates the usage of 10Gbps Ethernet circuit where two streams of Stream
frames and various Data frames are multiplexed and transported. When the traffic volumes of
Stream 1, 2 and Data frames fluctuate and the sum of them is to exceed the 1Gbps limit, Data
frames with lower priority are partly discarded in order to secure the necessary bandwidth for
the Stream1 and 2 Stream frames.

Source Video MAC Address
A unique 48 bit “Video MAC address” is automatically assigned to each source port of the
MD8000 Channel Service boards as shown below. Users cannot change the Source Video
MAC address.
