warning and the horn are disabled by the
ground/air switch S522 when the helicopter is
on the ground. Additional equipment requiring
circuitry inhibit can be wired to be disabled
when on the ground.
A. Air/Ground Switch S522 Replacement
(1). Ensure all electrical power is
OFF
and
disconnect battery.
(2). Remove left support fairing panel (Ref.
Sec. 52-50-00).
(3). Identify, mark and remove switch
electrical wires.
(4). Remove attaching hardware from rod
end and clamp.
(5). Remove attaching hardware from
switch arm and carefully remove arm
from splined shaft.
(6). Remove switch from bracket.
(7). Install new switch, attaching hardware
and electrical wires.
B. Air/Ground Switch S522 Adjustment

NOTE:
Service fuel tanks to full capacity prior
to adjustment (Ref. Sec. 12-00-00).
(1). Jack helicopter so that left landing skid
clears the ground (Ref. Sec. 07-00-00).
(2). Using ohmmeter (ST1010), rotate the
switch shaft counterclockwise until the
switch actuation detent is reached but
switch contacts 1-3, 4-6, (7-9 and
10-12 if installed) are open.
NOTE:
For correct adjustment it may be neces
sary to loosen the clamp bolt to properly
align clamp with rod end bearing.
(3). Turn rod end bearing to set switch rod
length to 3.00 inches (7.62 cm). Install
switch arm and rod assembly onto the
switch splined shaft and strut clamp
bolt.
NOTE:
Verify switch contacts (Ref. step (2).)
are open and switch actuation detent is as
close as possible. Use the switch arm worm-
gear for fine adjustment.
(4). Remove rod end bearing from clamp
bolt and decrease rod length to 2.90
inches (7.366 cm). Slip the rod end
bearing onto the strut clamp bolt.
Switch contacts (Ref. step (2).) should
be closed.
NOTE:
If switch contacts do not close, repeat
steps (3). and (4). to get switch closer to the
actuation detent.
(5). Lower helicopter and verify contacts
(Ref. step (2).) are open (EPO audio
warning circuit should be disabled).
(6). Tighten all hardware and secure with
safety wire as required.
