Zero Radius Side Loader
Operation
CAUTION
If you detect a problem with any control
function, it must be repaired immediately.
DO NOT operate the Packer with
malfunctioning controls.
Damage to property or equipment may occur.
1. Start the vehicle and idle for 5 minutes with the pump
turned off. (Do not attempt to run any functions during this
period.)
2. Turn the pump on to activate the heater function for 5
minutes.
a. For the heater to work, which operates the Tailgate
Close solenoid and Top Door open, these conditions need
to be met:
i. Pump needs to be on.
ii. All other functions need to be off.
iii. Auto Heater needs to be set to Enabled. See Zero
Radius Service Manual for Enable parameters.
iv. Oil temperature needs to be below 109°F.
v. Tailgate must be closed.
3. Cycle through each of the following operations:
a. Packing Functions - Cycle three (3) times.
b. Top Door Functions - Cycle three (3) times.
c. Grabber and Arm Functions - Cycle five (5) times.
4. After completing the cycle tests, inspect the refuse vehicle
for any hydraulic leaks. If the leaks are detected, correct
them BEFORE the refuse vehicle is placed into actual
operation.
3.3 Traveling Procedure
Before beginning travel to the next site, be sure that all
Hydraulic functions are in their HOME positions. This means:
1. That the arm assembly is retracted to its STOWED
position and is secured in place with the hook and with
the arm transit latch chain (Figure 29 for arm transit
latch chain). Stowed means that the arm is retracted
into the body and the grabber is in the hopper with the
fingers closed. The hook will automatically latch when the
ARM switch is pressed off; the arm transit latch chain is
manually latched.
