Setting Up the
Trailer Tongue Box
1. Refer to photo above of the Trailer
Tongue Box.
2.
Always wear ANSI
approved safety goggles and heavy duty
work gloves when installing, and when
loading/unloading the box.
3. This product is to be permanently
mounted on the tongue of a trailer as shown
in the photo above. Installation requires
precision measurement and drilling of holes
for hardware. It is recommended that this
technicians.
help in the loading and unloading of the
Trailer Tongue Box.
5. Hardware to mound the Trailer Tongue
Box is sold separately and can vary by the
design of the trailer that the box is to be
mounted to.
6. Some ideas to help in the mounting of
the Trailer Tongue Box:
- Place the Trailer Tongue Box on top of the
trailer tongue (as shown in the photo to the
left). The box is to be attached to the trailer
tongue in 4 locations (each corner of the bot-
tom of the box). Holes will be drilled in these
4 locations to accept 1/4” diameter Carriage
Bolts
Carefully check to
make sure that no hidden cables or wires
are located underneath the trailer tongue in
the drilling path.
- After measuring exact locations for the 4
mounting holes inside the box, remove the
box from the trailer tongue.
- Drill small guide holes (1/8” diameter) into
the desired mounting areas on the inside
bottom of the box.
- Again place the box on top of the trailer
tongue in the desired mounting position.
Through the 1/8” diameter guide holes, mark
the position of the drill holes on the trailer
tongue.
Holes in the trailer tongue will be 1/4” diam-
eter to accept the Carriage Bolts.
- Back to the inside bottom of the box: Now
drill slightly larger holes (17/64”) in the 4
guide hole locations - designed to accept a
1/4” diameter rubber grommet in each hole.
- With all holes drilled, re-position the box
on top of the trailer tongue. With a 1/4”
diameter washer in place on each Carriage
Bolt, insert a bolt through each of the four
mounting holes from top side. From under
the trailer tongue, secure each bolt with
another 1/4” washer and locking nut. Hand
tighten each nut until all 4 bolts are in place;
then securely tighten all 4 nuts.
