SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

SERVICE

1.

Have your power tool serviced by

a qualified repair person using only
identical replacement parts.

 This will

ensure that the safety of the power tool
is maintained.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES

FOR SANDER

1.

Hold the tool by the insulated

gripping surfaces when performing an
operation where the cutting tool may

contact hidden wiring or its own cord.

Contact with a “live” wire will make
exposed metal parts of the tool “live”

and shock the operator.
2.

Always wear safety goggles and a

dust mask when sanding, especially
when sanding over-head.

3.

A suitable breathing respirator must

be worn while sanding chemically

pressure treated objects.

4.

The machine is not suitable for wet

sanding.

5.

Do not use sanding paper larger than

needed.

 Extra paper extending beyond the

sanding pad can cause serious lacerations.
6.

Secure the workpiece.

 A workpiece

clamped with clamping devices or in a vice
is held more secure than by hand.
7.

Attach the dust box to the tool and

empty it frequently.

Do not throw sanding

dust on an open fire because materials in
fine particle form may be explosive.

DANGER:

 People with electronic

devices, such as pacemakers, should
consult their physician(s) before using this
product. Operation of electrical equipment
in close proximity to a heart pacemaker
could cause interference or failure of the
pacemaker.

    WARNING:

  Some dust created by

power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling
and other construction activities contains
chemicals known to the state of California
to cause cancer, birth defects or other re-
productive harm. Some examples of these
chemicals are:

•  Lead from lead-based paints
• Crystalline silica from bricks and ce-

ment and other masonry products, and

•  Arsenic and chromium from chemically-

treated lumber.

Your risk from these exposures varies, de-
pending on how often you do this type of
work. To reduce your exposure to these
chemicals: work in a well ventilated area,
and work with approved safety equipment,
such as those dust masks that are specially
designed to filter out microscopic particles.
