When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow
instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual.
Use of
unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance Instructions may
create a risk of electric shock or injury.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR SANDER
Hold the tool by its insulated gripping surfaces when performing an
operation where the tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord.
Contact with a “live” wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool “live”
and shock the operator.
Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask
when sanding, especially
sanding over-head.
A suitable breathing respirator must be worn
while sanding chemically
pressure treated objects.
The machine is not suitable for wet sanding.
Do not use sand paper that is larger than needed. Extra paper extending
beyond the sanding pad can cause serious lacerations.
The dust box or a vacuum system shall be used with the tool. The dust
box should be emptied frequently. Do not throw sanding dust on an open
fire because materials in fine particle form may be explosive.
Do not wet sand with this sander.
Liquids entering the motor housing is an
electrical shock hazard.
Use clamps or other practical way to secure and support the workpiece
to a stable platform.
Holding the work by hand or against your body is
unstable and may lead to loss of control.
Use special precautions when sanding chemically pressure treated
lumber, paintthat may be lead based, or any other materials that may
contain carcinogens.
A suitable breathing respirator and protective
clothing must be worn by all persons entering the work area. Work area
should be sealed by plastic sheeting and persons not protected should be
kept out until work area is thoroughly cleaned.
WARNING! Some dust created bypower sanding, sawing, grinding, drill-
ing, and other construction activities contains chemicals known to cause
cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples of these
chemicals are:
• Crystalline silica from bricks and cementand other masonry products, and
• Arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber.
