General safety instructions for power-tools
1. Working area
a) Keep your working area clean and well-lit.
Untidiness and bad lighting in the working area
can lead to accidents.
b) Do not use electric appliances in an explosive environment such as in the presence of
flammable fluids, gases, or dust.
Electric appliances give off sparks that may ignite
flammable substances.
c) Keep children and other unauthorised persons away when you are operating the
electric appliance.
You may lose control if you are distracted.
2. Electric safety
a) The mains plug of the electric appliance must fit into the socket used. Never alter the
plug. Do not use adaptors for earthed electric appliances.
By using unaltered plugs and
appropriate sockets, you avoid the danger of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, stoves, or
refrigerators.
You are at great risk of electric shock if your body is at earth potential.
c) Do not expose electric appliances to rain or moisture.
Water intruding into the electric
appliance increases the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not use the mains cable for any other purpose than that intended. Never carry or
pull the electric appliance by the mains cable, and never unplug the appliance by
pulling on the mains cable. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges, and
moving parts.
Damaged or snagged electric cables increase the risk of electric shock.
e) If using the electric appliance outdoors, make sure that you are using an appropriate
extension cable.
By using an extension cable suitable for outdoor use, you avoid the risk of
electric shock.
f) If you cannot avoid operating the power tool in a damp environment, use a residual-
current protection switch.
The RC switch will reduce the risk of an electric shock.
