Files and file guiding

• Use a special round ﬁle (optional accessory) for saw chains sharpening. Normal

round ﬁles are not suitable.

• Use the round ﬁle of diameter 4.0 mm.

• The ﬁle should only engage the cutter part on the forward stroke. Lift the ﬁle off the

cutter part on the return stroke.

• Sharpen the shortest cutter ﬁrst. Then the length of this shortest cutter becomes

the standard for all other cutters on the saw chain.

• Guide the ﬁle as shown in the ﬁgure.

• A ﬁle holder (optional accessory) makes ﬁle guidance easier. The ﬁle holder has

markings for the correct sharpening angle of 30°. When using the ﬁle holder, align the

markings parallel to the saw chain, and limit the ﬁling depth to 4/5 of the ﬁle diameter.

• After sharpening the chain, check the depth of the cut using the chain gauge tool

(optional accessory).

• Remove the small excess with a special flat ﬁle (optional accessory).

• Round off the front of the depth gauge.

Replacing the starter rope

In case the starter rope is cut, replace the rope as follows.

NOTE:

• In case you simply replace the rope, ﬁrstly untie the knot of the starter grip, remove

the starter grip and release tension of the spiral spring. Otherwise the tensioned

spiral spring may spring out from the housing.
