How HoloKote
®
is printed onto the card.
Colour cards are printed using a thermal transfer YMCKO dye film. After the colour image has been printed onto
the card, the clear “O” panel is applied to protect the image from fading or scratching. MAGICARD’s thermal
transfer printer models have a unique facility for frosting a security image into the clear overcoat during the print
process. This is a patented feature and unlike most other security logos, it involves no extra cost of printing.

applications include company ID cards, access
control cards, membership cards, retail loyalty
cards and government cards like driving
licences.
ID cards are different from many other types of
cards we use, such as credit cards, because ID
cards are personalised to individual and
organisational needs. Personalisation means
photos on the card, people’s names,
organisation names, but can also extend into
signatures, barcodes, and other forms of
identification. Many cards these days also have
electronic means of identification, such as
embedded chips and magnetic stripe.

Card encoding.
Card encoding allows electronic data on the card to be written to at the same time
as printing a card.
Magicard ID card printers support a wide range of card encoding in the printer:

®
Completely unique to Magicard, HoloPatch cards have a
highly reflective gold ‘super diffuser’ seal. When used in
conjunction with the HoloKote anti-counterfeiting feature,
the security mark is highlighted for distance visibility.
HoloKote
®
The Ultra patented built-in HoloKote security watermark comes
free with every Tempo, Opera, Enduro, Alto, Rio 2e, Tango 2e and
Tango +L printer.
Mag stripe
A dual coercivity HiCo/LoCo mag stripe encoder option which offers
encoding of all three tracks with complete user format flexibility
(The Alto, Opera and Tempo are limited to HiCo and tracks 1 & 2)

work
together as a visible security feature?
The unique HoloKote feature is daylight visible by tilting the card to view the watermark pattern.
For even greater security, HoloPatch cards combined with HoloKote provide a distance-visible security
mark allowing a security guard or colleague to easily verify badge authenticity from a distance of six feet
or more. It’s the ultimate in card security simplicity.
